Rudder bearing replacement

Rudder bearing replacement

Postby Bladerunner » Fri Mar 23, 2018 9:45 am

Hi Guys & Gals......I'm a new kid on the block and I'm in the process of buying a Dehler 39 which has some slack in the bottom rudder bearing that may need some attention in the near future......so:

1. What is the acceptable tolerance?

2. Is there a rudder bearing kit available?

3. Has anybody herein done the job and perchance has documented the procedure and would like to share data?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, I am just wondering if you took any action on this. If the movement was less than around 1mm its probably OK. The usual problem with Dehler rudder bearings is that they tend to stiffen up.

Hi Gavina...thanks for the interest. At this point I have not touched the rudder bearing as it is moving with no stiffness and the 'experts' at my yacht club tell me I dont have excessive play.

Cheers
